Gedächtnissteine für Opfer des Nationalsozialismus

Der Kölner Künstler Gunter Demnig erinnert an Opfer des Nationalsozialismus, indem er vor ihrem letzten selbstgewählten Wohnort Gedenktafeln aus Messing in den Gehweg einlässt. Die Gedenktafeln haben eine Kantenlänge von etwa 10 cm. Sie werden Stolpersteine genannt.

Werner Joseph (born 21-Feb-1928 in Breslau) also lived here, but went on a "Kindertransport" to the Netherlands, where he arrived on 5 Jan 1939. After a stay in Eindhoven he stayed with foster families, first in Heiloo, then in Amsterdam, with Joseph and Everdina Rudelsheim in the Grensstraat. His parents, Hedwig Hermanns ad Friedrich Joseph wanted to emigrate to Colombia. Werner was taken to Sobibor, where he perished on 7 May 1943. See [[1]]

Heinz Günther Joseph (born 4-Oct-1922 in Hamburg) went to the Netherlands with the same Kindertransport as Werner and his other brother Hans Hugo. He went to the Werkdorp in Wieringen in November 1940. He was amongst one of the first groups of Jews to be deported from the Netherlands. He was taken to Mauthausen where he died on 16 September 1941. See [[2]]
